When I step behind the lens during a maternity photoshoot, it often feels less like I’m directing and more like I’m witnessing. These women — growing life, holding space, breathing deeply — move with a grace and intuition that’s unlike anything else I capture. And though I may offer a pose or prompt, the real beauty always comes through unprompted.
The way a hand gently frames the curve of a belly.

These moments are not posed — they’re embodied. And they create some of the most emotive, candid photography I’ve ever had the honor to capture.
Why Maternity Photography is So Powerful
As a photographer offering both digital and film photography in Edmonton and beyond, I approach each session with a balance of documentary-style photography and fine art portraiture.
