How DVNS RM Was Born: Building a Brand Rooted in Storytelling, Space, and Connection
When I first started building my photography brand, I knew it had to mean something. I’ve always believed photography should feel like more than just images — it should feel like memory, like emotion, like stepping back into a version of yourself that maybe you forgot you needed to see.
DVNS RM (pronounced Devin's Room) wasn’t just a clever name — it was a moment. My partner and I had just bought our first home in Edmonton, and for years, our friend Devin lived with us. He wasn’t just a roommate — he was family. When he moved out, he stood in the doorway of his empty bedroom and asked with a smirk, “So what are you gonna do with my room?” Without missing a beat, I told him: “It’s going to be my studio.”
And just like that, it clicked. I couldn’t call my brand anything else.
Creating a Space That’s More Than a Studio
From the beginning, I wanted DVNS RM to be more than just a photography business. I wanted it to be a creative space — one where people and brands could come in and feel safe, seen, and celebrated. Whether I’m photographing a couple in love, a brand launching something new, or a quiet in-between moment, I aim to create something that feels elevated, intentional, and collaborative.
This space — both physical and conceptual — is built on trust, creativity, and connection. My hope is always to co-create with clients, not just capture them.
